Voting is open until October 26
The Town’s October 16 notice confirms that online voting opened at 9 a.m. on October 16 and closes at 8 p.m. on Monday, October 26, 2026. A Voter Instruction Letter supplies the voting website address and the elector’s individual PIN. Eligible residents can still be added to the voters list until that closing deadline; allow time for registration review, obtaining a letter and casting the ballot.
If your letter has not arrived, the Town directs you to the Municipal Clerk’s Office at Victoria Hall, 55 King Street West, or a Voter Help Centre during its operating hours to confirm your registration and obtain your PIN. Do not post your letter or PIN publicly.
Updated October 11, 2026: Added the Town’s instruction-letter pickup requirement for people added to the voters list after October 8, and its registration-review guidance.
Cobourg electors who need help casting a municipal or school-board ballot will have access to three Town-run Voter Help Centres during the October voting period. The Town’s Clerk’s team will manage the centres, which offer secure voting kiosks.
The voting period opened Friday, October 16, 2026 at 9 a.m. and ends Monday, October 26 at 8 p.m. The centres do not all open for that entire period; their individual schedules are below. All times are local.
Missing your Voter Instruction Letter?
The Town’s current alert directs anyone who has not received a Voter Instruction Letter to visit a Voter Help Centre in person during its operating hours and bring photo identification and proof of address. Its October 19 individual notice also identifies the Clerk’s Office at Victoria Hall as a place to confirm registration and obtain a letter, and specifically requires in-person pickup for people added to the voters list after October 8. That notice asks for photo identification that includes proof of qualifying address. This is guidance for missing letters and late registrants, not a requirement that every elector collect a letter.
The Town’s election registration page also cautions that submitting a registration request, and receiving the initial confirmation email, does not mean you have already been added to the list. Election officials must review the request; a subsequent email advises whether it was accepted or declined. Use the official voter registration information page to check your record or follow the registration instructions.

Keep your ballot and PIN private
In its October 6 reminder, the Town advises voters to choose a private place to vote online and keep their mailed voting PIN secure. Do not pass your PIN or vote to somebody else. The Town also says voters are not obliged to disclose their choices, and that candidates and campaign volunteers must not interfere with someone casting a ballot or supply candidate electronic devices for voting.
For election questions or help-centre enquiries, contact the Clerk’s Office at cobourgvotes@cobourg.ca or 905-372-4301, extension 9520. Our parking and getting-here guide can help with planning a visit.
Free transit for in-person voting
The Town’s October 23 notice confirms free Cobourg Transit rides to and from Voter Help Centres for residents voting in person. This includes a Victoria Hall stop on Saturday, October 24 and Sunday, October 25, when that help centre is open 10 a.m.–4:30 p.m. Free transit to all three help-centre locations is also offered on Monday, October 26. On Election Day each centre is open 9 a.m.–8 p.m.
For transit-use information or booking assistance, call 905-373-0582. The notice does not publish a special-service timetable; confirm travel arrangements before leaving. Downtown road closures on October 24 are described in our waterfront and downtown access report.
Parking and election-team assistance
The October 16 notice says free parking is available at all three Voter Help Centre locations and identifies the first three hours of downtown parking as free. This does not mean unlimited free downtown parking.
The election email, cobourgvotes@cobourg.ca, is monitored daily during the voting period. Telephone assistance at 905-372-4301, extension 9520, is monitored weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with extended hours of 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. on October 26. These telephone hours are separate from the help-centre schedules above.
Viewing election-night results at Victoria Hall
The Town’s October 26 notice invites Cobourg residents to the Concert Hall at Victoria Hall, 55 King Street West, to see unofficial election results projected on a screen at 8:30 p.m. or later on Monday, October 26, 2026. The Municipal Clerk and Returning Officer will share them after votes have been tallied and verified. This updates the earlier notice, which said only that results would follow the 8 p.m. close of voting. No door-opening time is stated, and 8:30 p.m. is not a guaranteed results time.
The official municipal election results page currently asks readers to check back after 8 p.m. on October 26 for unofficial results. The Town says official results will also be published on the election website and issued through a public notice. Treat election-night figures as unofficial until the formal results are released.
