Indian Horse at Victoria Hall
The film will be shown Wednesday, September 30 at 2:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. in the Citizen’s Forum at Victoria Hall, 55 King Street West. Admission is free and open to the public.
Adapted from Richard Wagamese’s novel, Indian Horse follows an Ojibway boy whose experiences of residential school and hockey shape his life. The film is rated 14+. Every Child Matters Walk in Alderville
Meet at Alderville Health and Social Services, 8467 County Road 45 in Roseneath, at 10:45 a.m. on September 30. The walk starts at 11 a.m. and proceeds north to the Community Centre at 8913 County Road 45. A bus is provided for the return trip to the starting building. Everyone is welcome, and participants are encouraged to wear orange.
Reflection along the waterfront
The Waterfront Wisdom Pathway features 26 banners by Alderville artists Rick Beaver and Koren Smoke. Two orange Adirondack chairs display reflections contributed at earlier commemorations. These offer places to pause while exploring the shoreline.
Victoria Hall will be lit orange on September 30, and municipal flags will be lowered. The public library is also highlighting Indigenous authors through displays and orange-feather labels on books.
