Cobourg’s low-season parking rules took effect September 15, 2026. For a short waterfront walk or downtown visit, the first three hours of municipal parking are now free. Low season runs through May 14, 2027.
What a longer visit costs
- Waterfront lots and on-street spaces: after the first three free hours, $2.50 per hour; the daily waterfront rate is $20.
- Downtown: the first three hours are free year-round, then $2.50 per hour.
- Parking enforcement continues 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Additional time can be paid at parking meters, pay-and-display machines or through HONK Mobile. Always check the signs where you park; free hours do not override time limits or reserved spaces.
Permits and overnight stays
The low-season visitor waterfront permit is $35 a month and does not include overnight parking. The resident permit is $10 a month; the Northumberland County resident permit is $40 a month. Their overnight coverage differs, so choose the permit that applies to your location and residency.
Separate municipal-lot overnight permits cover 11 p.m.–7 a.m.: $10 for a night or $100 for a month. Permits can be obtained at 201 Second Street or Victoria Hall, 55 King Street West, weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Accessible parking
The free resident accessible-parking arrangement requires registration for a Cobourg Resident Accessible Permit. Visiting accessible-permit holders still pay applicable rates. Accessible on-street spaces have a three-hour limit.
