Visitors and residents using Covert Street should expect a changed route through the Covert Street parking lot from October 13 to 23, 2026, while Lakefront Utilities Inc. upgrades the electrical grid. The Town of Cobourg announced the work on October 8.

What changes for drivers and pedestrians

The Town says Covert Street will remain open during construction. A detour through the Covert Street parking lot is intended to maintain access and traffic flow. Motorists and pedestrians are asked to use caution near the work area and follow posted signs and directions.

The notice does not specify daily work hours, the number of parking spaces affected or a separate pedestrian route. Do not assume that every parking space or usual path through the lot will be available; use the on-site directions. The Town’s source notice includes a construction-area and detour map.

Electrical service

Any electrical outages will be communicated to affected customers in advance, according to the Town. The notice does not announce a specific outage time or say that every nearby property will lose power.
