Why the work is being done
Crack sealing is preventative maintenance. It is intended to keep water out of the pavement base, reduce the damage caused by winter freeze-thaw cycles and delay larger road repairs.
After cleaning each crack, crews inject a flexible sealant. The Town says a biodegradable, non-toxic barrier material called Glenzoil is then applied to help prevent fresh sealant from sticking to vehicle tires or tracking onto nearby pavement.
