Thanksgiving Monday in Cobourg: no transit, municipal closures and limited CCC hours

Cobourg Transit will not run October 12. Most municipal buildings close, while the Community Centre opens for the Cougars game and Youth Zone.

Anyone planning a Thanksgiving Monday visit to Cobourg should arrange transport without relying on Cobourg Transit: the Town says the service will not operate on Monday, October 12, 2026. Municipal buildings will also close for the holiday, with a limited evening opening at the Cobourg Community Centre.

Buildings and services affected

The Town’s October 6 notice identifies the Cobourg Public Library, Victoria Hall, the Venture13 Innovation and Entrepreneurship Centre and Public Works Building 7 among the municipal closures. Plan library visits and municipal business for another day.

Regular municipal business and transit hours are scheduled to resume on Tuesday, October 13. The notice does not announce replacement transit service for the holiday.

The Community Centre is an exception, not a regular programme day

The Cobourg Community Centre will open from 4 to 10 p.m. on October 12 for the Cobourg Cougars game at 7 p.m. The Youth Zone will operate from 5 to 9 p.m. All other CCC programmes will not run that day, according to the Town.

The notice does not give game admission prices, ticket availability or Youth Zone eligibility details. The limited opening should not be read as confirmation that other recreation activities or municipal services are available.

Planning a holiday visit

If your plans involve downtown or the waterfront, account for the transit shutdown before travelling. The municipal notice does not establish holiday opening hours for private shops, restaurants or attractions. Check the individual operator when planning a specific stop.
